Ginza literarily means "Silver Place," deriving its name from "mint" for silver which was located in this area during the Edo period. It extends from Kyobashi to Shimbashi and is now a leading shopping place in Tokyo. There are many finest shops including department stores and specialty stores.
There are also many restaurants, tea house, bars, cabarets and so on in this district. Ginza still keeps its dignity and reputation while there are many newly created shopping and business centers in Tokyo.
