Nikkei Furusato Tour - Japanese American History

Discover Ancestor's path at Museum of Japanese Emigration to Hawaii

During Hawaiian sugar industry in the 1800s, thousands of Japanese immigrated to Hawaii. Little unknown fact is that 10% came from a small island off the coast of Yamaguchi prefecture, Suo Island. With their calm weather and beautiful beaches, it is considered as the “Hawaii of Setouchi.” Retrace the steps that many have taken trying to uncover their roots in Japan.

This tour will start in Tokyo where you will experience the highlights of this futuristic city and then go back in time in Kyoto via Mt. Fuji and Hakone where you will be visiting temples and tea houses. Then uncover the history of WWII in Hiroshima with a visit to the Floating Torii of Miyajima.

We will end in Suo Island’s Museum of Japanese Emigration to Hawaii and Jam’s Garden. We can also customize your trip to visit your ancestor’s village. You can also extend your vacation before/ after the tour in Hiroshima, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.
