We will begin our morning with a visit to Nara, where you will be greeted by numerous deer that roam free around Todaiji Temple. Todaiji Temple holds the World Guinness Record as the largest wooden building. Inside the temple, you will behold the biggest Buddha statue in Japan.

We then proceed to Sanjusangendo which is famouse for its 1001 statues of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. In the center of the main hall sits a large, wooden statue of a 1000-armed Kannon that is flanked on each side by 500 statues of human sized 1000-armed Kannon standing in ten rows.

Next in our agenda will be a trip to Kodaiji Temple, built in 1606 in memory of Toyotomi Hideyoshi by his beloved wife, Nene. This beautifully constructed shrine is well balance with nature maintaining a Japanese and Zen Garden with a Bamboo Forest. It is this location overlooking the scenery that you will be taking lessons in Japanese Tea Ceremony.

We then proceed to Kyoto to visit the Gion Geisha District where you can spot geisha walking along the
ancient capital.

Afterwards, we offer options for our guest: 1) you may freely roam on your own in Gion 2) Head toward Gion Corner where you can see Geisha dances and other traditional performances (PRICE: JPY 3150 TIME: 6:00pm, 7:00pm) 3) Go to a photo studio where you can dress as a Geisha with make-up or as a samurai (prices depends on number of exposures and location)

We will begin our morning with a visit to the Golden Pavilion, a must see attraction where the two upper floors are covered in gold leaf. We will traverse to Nishijin Textile Center, where you can witness the creation of a traditional kimono. The center offers courses in handweaving, trying on elegant kimonos, and, if you like it, you can purchase it. You will be invited to see dazzling arrays of kimonos in a fashion show. We will continue to Nijo Castle. Its walls and door panels are heavily decorated with gold and beautiful pictures of nature.

The last stop will be a ninja village. You will learn tricks on how ninjas infiltrate enemies’ castle and see the many weapons they use. Ninjas appear in many movies and anime/ manga, just to name a few Ninja Scrolls, Flame of Recca, Karasu Tengu Kabuto, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Nintama Rantaro.

Traveling at 150 mph, we are heading towards our hotel in Shizuoka prefecture using the “shinkansen,” bullet train. The tour would not be complete without a long relaxing soak in the onsen, hot spring, to rejuvenate you for tomorrow’s adventure. Yukata, a Japanese robe, will be provided for you. The onsen is located in our own ryokan, a Japanese style hotel, which includes a traditional Japanese cuisine.

After arrival, we shall begin by visiting Japan’s most iconic symbol, the sacred Fuji-san, Mt. Fuji. It is 3776 meters tall, making it Japan’s tallest mountain. It’s not surprising that the almost perfect shaped volcano has been worshiped through all the ages from poetry to art.

From Fuji-san we will continue our journey to Hakone, where we will take a cruise in Lake Ashi. We will then take a ropeway to Owakudani, an active volcanic crater still steaming from its last eruption some 3,000 years ago. There you will get a taste of the local cuisine, the black egg, cooked in one of the craters.

In the end, we will head towards our hotel in Tokyo.

Today will be devoted to exploring the multi-cultural spots of Tokyo.

Starting with an optional tour to the tuna auction live at the world famous Tsukiji Market.* It’s the biggest fish market in the world selling over 2,000 tons of fish per day. Though the tour starts at 3:30am, this district is buzzing with life and activities distributing fishes to all the sushi shops in Tokyo. After this tour, you will be taken to your hotel to pack and meet the group.

Passing by the Imperial Palace Plaza to get a glimpse at the current Emperor’s home, the tour will head out to Edo Tokyo Museum where you can get acquainted with the history of Tokyo.

Close by, we will explore Akihabara famous for their abundance in electronic stores and the home of anime lovers. After lunch in Akihabara, we will delve in the old town district of Asakusa – shop around the Nakamise Shopping area and pray at the famous Sensoji Temple. You will also be able to see Sumida river going trough Tokyo which we will be exploring by a boat.

In the evening, we will probe the stores at Harajuku. The unofficial fashion capital of Japan offers the latest pop culture and fashion. Returning to our hotel, we will be passing by the fame Shibuya Cross and Roppongi Hills.

See the magic behind one of Japan’s greatest anime director Hayao Miyazaki. He produced Spirited Away and other must see classics. In the museum, you will learn how the anime is produced and see a rare movie only available there. Then onwards to Nakano Broadway, where this shopping center caters to otaku all over the world. This location is best in looking for hard to find items and rare games.

Under the many anime shops, we will eat authentic ramen with all dressing, including the legendary fish flake, naruto. How many Pokemon are there? Currently there are 649, so if you want to be a Game Master you must catch them all at the Pokemon Center. You can trade cards and buy new games, DVDs, and merchandise of you favorite Pokemon. Pikachu, Ash’s favorite, is the icon of the game and it has its own currency in Niue. The last spot of the day is Akihabara, the mecca of J-pop. You can find many anime, DVDs, figurines, and electronics.

We will be visiting a Maid Café where you can order anything in their menu. Afterwards, you have free time on your own to visit Daiba, Megaweb, Joypolis, and other such places.
